Power from the primary source

Nordic renewable energy, at scale

Energy parks, battery energy storage and power purchase agreements from the Nordics' most established independent power producer.

A selection of our energy parks

Primora owns and operates the largest portfolio of energy parks in Sweden, and is responsible for nearly 60% of all built solar parks in the country.

Two ways to work with us

We develop, finance, build, and operate energy parks across the Nordics. You can either purchase the renewable power they generate or partner with us by leasing your land for future energy park development.

  • Parks and Resorts

From a sustainability perspective, it feels better to invest in electricity from a traceable and transparent source rather than purchasing Guarantees of Origin. We believe there should be more incentives for companies to support the expansion of renewable energy. One example would be placing a higher value on location-specific PPAs.

The PPA with Primora has been straightforward and effective as I thought it would be. The model can seem complex if you haven’t worked with one before, but the Primora team makes the process easy to navigate. For us, the benefits in terms of sustainability, long-term price predictability and communications have been clear.

Energy parks that give back to the landscape

Our parks are built on land that remains productive and full of life. Sheep graze between the rows, meadow flowers grow beneath the panels, and when the agreement ends, the land can return to agricultural use.

  • The land stays in use

Sheep grazing and mowing between the rows help keep the land open and in productive use throughout the lifetime of the energy park.

  • More life between the rows

Flowering meadow and rapeseed make room for pollinators and birds.

  • Creating new habitats for local species

Installing nesting boxes for overwintering bees and creating habitats for bat colonies and various insects.

This is where Primora differentiates.

Through our initiatives, 3rd party researchers indicate a 5-8x increase in biodiversity (and associated metrics of resilience) during even the first 10 years of a project; with greater positive impacts increasing over the lifetime of the park.

Battery Energy Storage

Solar power combined with battery storage – delivering tailored multi-technology solutions for your business’s operation throughout the day and night. We develop both stand-alone and co-located battery energy storage systems with our energy parks. They store electricity when solar production is high and deliver it when it is needed most by the grid, or shift energy use to better match our customers’ demand.

  • Saves the sun for the evening

The batteries charge during the day, when solar production is high, and discharge when demand increases.

  • A more stable grid

Including battery energy storage at our parks allows us to further stabilize fluctuations in the electricity grid, creating a more sustainable energy landscape for our clients and Sweden as a whole.

  • A steadier price around the clock

Battery energy storage helps make the electricity from our energy parks more predictable and provides a more stable energy supply for both the grid and our customers.

Guide

How an energy park comes to life

From initial site assessment and agreement to permitting, grid connection, construction, operation and decommissioning – we manage the entire process.

  1. Securing land, permits and grid connection

Once the land lease agreement is signed, we do the necessary environmental and ground studies, prepare the required documentation, consult with the municipality and County Administrative Board, and apply for all relevant permits. In parallel, we work with the grid operator to secure a connection.

  2. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)

At all times, Primora is engaged with multiple companies interested in purchasing solar power directly from our energy parks. Together, we assess each company's needs. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) gives companies long-term control over their energy costs while helping enable the development of new energy parks across the Nordics.

  3. Construction

We manage the construction process in-house. We install ground-mounted solar panels and complete systems, including inverters, transformers, energy storage, and all associated cabling.

  4. Operations and maintenance (O&M)

We manage the maintenance of both technology and land within the project. We continuously monitor, inspect, clean, and maintain the facility. Around the panels, we keep the landscape open and well-kept, either through mowing or with the help of grazing sheep.

  5. Decommissioning

Upon completion of the project, we will dismantle the facility, remove all materials, and restore the ground in accordance with the agreement. Financial security for this work is guaranteed in the lease agreement.

Frequently asked questions

The essentials on power purchase agreements, energy parks and land leases. Can't find the answer? Contact us.

What is a PPA?

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term agreement between your company and a power producer like Primora. It allows you to buy power at a fixed price, over a long duration. PPAs typically run for 10–20 years and can cover all or part of your electricity consumption.

How long is the term?

PPAs typically run for 10–20 years and can cover all or part of your electricity consumption.

Do I need to switch electricity supplier?

No, you do not necessarily need to switch electricity supplier. We can continue working with your current supplier if that is the best setup, but as one of Sweden’s leading energy companies, we can also explore the market to secure better terms and more competitive prices.

What is the lifespan of an energy park?

The energy park has a lifespan of at least 40 years, but is expected to last even longer.

Can I continue to use the land while you apply for the permit?

In most cases, you can continue farming, grazing or using the land until construction begins. Any restrictions during the development period will be clearly stated in the agreement.

What happens when the lease ends?

We are responsible for dismantling the facility, removing the equipment and restoring the land to the condition agreed in the lease. Financial security for decommissioning and restoration is provided in accordance with the agreement.
