– We chose the name Primora, referring to the sun as the first source of energy for our planet, says Pieter Godderis, CEO of Primora.

Under Svea Solar’s umbrella, the company realized over 60 solar parks, more than any other Swedish solar park actor. Currently Primora is finalizing construction of the biggest solar park to date outside Nyköping, totaling 117 MW. The ambition of the company is to reach a combined annual electricity production of around 2 TWh by the early 2030s – this corresponds to roughly half of what one of the reactors at Barsebäck was producing before they were shut down.

– Today we have 220 MW in operation or under construction. This makes us the single largest solar park owner and operator in Sweden today. Solar is the fastest-growing energy source in Sweden, and we expect this to remain so for years to come, says Pieter Godderis.

Primora’s majority owner is Altor, one of Sweden’s leading private equity companies. Other significant owners are CarVal Investors, a US-based global investment manager.

– What sets Primora apart is that we are homegrown and local. We thoroughly understand the Swedish solar market, we are nimble and agile, enabling us to respond rapidly to trends and innovations; on top, we are backed by some of the largest and most established and respected investors in renewable energy in Europe, adds Pieter Godderis.

Primora offers long-term electricity agreements, so-called PPAs, to companies who want to future-proof their energy costs and help accelerate the energy transition. Over one third of all solar park PPAs closed in Sweden to date were closed with Primora.
