Close to Skavsta Airport lies Fjällskär, which at the time of its inauguration was Sweden’s largest solar park. Here, large-scale renewable electricity production is combined with sheep grazing between and under the panels – and the electricity is used by, among others, Kolmården and Gröna Lund amusement parks.

Gröna Lund, Kolmården and Skara Sommarland run entirely on solar power during the summer seasons. Surplus power goes to the public grid.
Parks and Resorts buys power from the park through Bixia under a power purchase agreement (PPA). The agreement made the financing possible, so new solar capacity could be built.
In the summer months sheep graze in the park. The panels give shade that makes the grass more nutritious, and a passage lets wild animals move freely through the park.
Since September 2024 the park’s output can be switched off for short periods when there is too much power in the grid.
As a long-term player in the visitor industry, a sustainable power supply is an obvious goal, but it is not always easy.

Every park is unique, but they share one goal: large-scale renewable power for the Nordics.
